A unique course for teenagers
A practice-oriented program introducing modern fashion design—spanning everything from visual research and fashion illustration, through textile experimentation and surface design, to prototyping and visualizing one’s own collection.

1. Design Research (Research & Concept)

Students learn to analyze contemporary collections (from fashion weeks—couture and ready-to-wear) and identify high-quality sources to inform their own design research.
Practical work:
analyzing collections from leading brands
creating a sketchbook
developing mood boards
Outcome: personal research and a conceptual mood board for the future collection.

2. Fashion Illustration and Idea Visualization

The course begins with illustration—following the standard practice of the world's leading fashion schools. Participants select 10 looks from current collections and interpret them using various techniques.
Practical work:
fashion sketching
mixed-media illustration

live drawing
Outcome: a series of contemporary fashion illustrations conveying the collection's style, mood, and concept.

3. Textile and Material Design

Participants work not only with paper but also with actual fashion production materials: fabrics and non-wovens, yarns, embroidery floss, textile paints, pigments, and markers, as well as experimental materials and techniques. This module covers the fundamentals of sustainable design and upcycling.

Ebru (marbling)

Outcome: a collection of textile samples and/or structural details integrated into the collection's concept.

4. Pattern Cutting, Form, and 3D Thinking

This section focuses on working with silhouette, volume, and form. Students explore how a three-dimensional look emerges from an idea and a flat plane.
Practical work:
silhouette development
technical drawings
3D thinking workshop
collection lineup
creation of a full-scale mock-up of a look (sewing not required)
Note: the finished look can be made from any material—not just fabric. The focus is on the idea, form, and expressiveness.
Result: a visually and technically developed collection of looks.

5. Collection creation and presentation

The final module focuses on assembling the project and presenting it.
Practical work:
styling the looks
working with accessories
portfolio preparation
Course finale:
open project presentation
professional photoshoot
Result: a finished collection ready for a portfolio.


Course outcome
Upon completion of the program, each student receives:
a sketchbook containing research and the concept
a series of fashion illustrations for the current collections
a collection of textile swatches / construction details
a 6-look collection lineup (fully developed and illustrated)
(optional) 1 full-scale mock-up of a look
a finished fashion project for their portfolio.
