ABOUT THE COURSE
For whom:
A course for those who want to learn more about the history of art, learn to understand styles and trends, get acquainted with how creative thought has developed over three centuries and the creative style of specific artists. But most importantly, under the guidance of a wonderful teacher, try to create paintings yourself, studying the style and techniques of great artists in practice!

  • Learn the techniques of working
  • with various materials: watercolor, acrylic, oil pastel;
  • Create works in the collage technique;
  • Get acquainted with aerial perspective, perception of light and color;
  • Find out what a color wheel is and how to skillfully use it;
  • Get acquainted with the laws of composition and master various composition techniques
COURSE PROGRAM
Lesson I Impressionism. Claude Monet
Why did now well-known works meet with offensive reviews from contemporaries? "Impression. Sunrise". We study the distinctive features of the style, creative tasks and experiments, features and manner of the artist. Painting "Japanese Bridge". We create our own painting using the artist's manner.

Lesson II Post - Impressionism. Vincent van Gogh
Step Towards Abstraction. Should Art Express Feelings or Depict an Object? Studying the Artist's Style. Painting "Starry Night". Create Your Own Painting Using the Artist's Style.

Lesson III Pointillism. Georges Seurat, Paul Signac
Art meets science. Pointillist innovation. Optical illusion. Studying the artist's style. Painting "Girl Powdering Herself", "Pine" by Paul Signac. Create your own still life painting with fruit (from life), using the artist's style.

Lesson IV Symbolism. Gustav Klimt
Dream images and mythical themes in modernists. What fly bit Klimt? "Golden period". Stoclet frieze. Studying the artist's manner. Decorative composition (creative task). Creating your own painting.

Lesson V Favism. Henri Matisse
Intoxicated by color and sun. Space and freedom. Bright colors are not for real life, but to quickly convey the mood. We study the artist's manner.
Painting "Blue Vase with Flowers on a Blue Tablecloth". We create our own painting (from life) using the artist's manner.

Lesson VI Cubism. Pablo Picasso
What is the best way to give an accurate idea of the subject? Synthetic Cubism. We study the artist's manner. "A Table in a Cafe (A Bottle of Pernod). We create our own painting using the studied artist's manner and the collage technique.

Lesson VII Dadaism. Jean Arp
"Anti-art" - relying on chance, challenging traditional ways of creating art objects. Studying the artist's manner. Painting "Squares arranged according to the laws of chance" Create your own painting. Using the artist's manner. Collage/Acrylic

Lesson VIII "De Stijl" Movement (Neoplasticism) Piet Mondrian
Broad intentions and utopian ideals. The author's ideas about the "new" beauty. Harmony of balance and dynamics. Recognizable elements and influence in art. We create our own painting using the basic triad and three "non-colors". We use the artist's manner. Painting "Composition II with Red, Blue and Yellow". We create our own painting/sketch of painting an object of our choice

Lesson IX Surrealism. Salvador Dali.
“There is nowhere to escape from oppressive reality except into childhood, sleep and fantasy.” About non-sleep – sleep, about sleep – non-sleep. The aesthetics of visual deception by Salvador Dali. Photographs of dreams. “…He eludes logical standard perception.” We use the artist’s manner. Painting “Sleep”, “Galatea of the Spheres”. We create our own painting.

Lesson X Abstract expressionism. Wassily Kandinsky.
The impression of spontaneity. Theory of emotions and color. Non-objective art. "It is not what is depicted in the picture that is important, but what thoughts and emotions it evokes in the viewer." New forms of art. Using the artist's manner. Painting "Improvisation No. 20 (Two Horses)". Creating your own painting. Acrylic

Theatre artist, UX/UI designer and teacher with 25 years of experience.
Worked as a set designer at the Vakhtangov Academic Theatre.
Managed the reconstruction of the Space Era Memorial Hall
at the Moscow Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics.
Worked as a graphic and UX/UI designer at the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation
and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Participated in the development of the online service "Do the Right Thing RF".
Teacher at the Art School. Prepared dozens of graduates for admission to creative universities in Russia and Germany. Participated in art exhibitions in Moscow.
Education: Moscow Theatre Art and Technical School, Moscow State Pedagogical University, Moscow Architectural Institute, Skillfactory school.
